This article examines the activities of Soviet specialists in Chinese mass media during the 1950s.Following the founding of the PRC in 1949, Sino-Soviet relations intensified across multiple spheres, including media and communication. Professional exchanges expanded through delegation visits, training programs, and collaborative projects. Within this framework, Soviet specialists were dispatched to China to assist in editorial work, provide methodological guidance, contribute to journalist training, and support the development of international broadcasting. The paper analyzes the concrete functions performed by Soviet experts, the institutional forms of cooperation, and the mechanisms of professional knowledge transfer within Sino-Soviet media collaboration. It also situates these developments within the broader historical context of media relations between the USSR and the PRC, demonstrating how interstate cooperation shaped media collaboration during the 1950s. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the use of archival materials and periodical publications that have not previously been introduced into international scholarly discourse. The analysis contributes to a deeper understanding of the early formation of China’s media system and the historical foundations of Sino-Soviet media cooperation.
